What can you learn from the Japanese approach to food and lifestyle for a healthy, happy life? Join Erin Niimi Longhurst, blogger and author of Japonisme, and Toral Shah, nutritional scientist, chef, and founder of The Urban Kitchen for an evening of delicious food and talks about Ikebana (flower arranging), Aikido (martial arts), health and lifestyle.

The Japanese-inspired menu has been developed collaboratively between Erin and Toral, and features some dishes from the book. The evening will include talks from Toral about the benefits of the Japanese diet, from Erin around Japanese philosophies like Ikigai, and special guests around the benefits of Aikido and Ikebana.

This event aims to help connect consumers with the hands that made their Activewear, highlight brands who put sustainability at the heart of their business and to fundraise for and support Fashion Revolution's efforts to stimulate change for a more responsible fashion industry. 

The 'Ethics in Activewear' panel, hosted by Fashion Revolution's Heather Knight, will be in conversation with the six supporting Activewear brands who have shared information on their fabrics and the factories they work with at www.whomademyactivewear.com. They'll be talking all things ethical Activewear; from the challenges of starting a business in this industry to the changes in consumer behaviour they've witness and the achievements they've accomplished to date.

The pop-up shop will be open to the public for browsing from 10am until 3.30pm, stocking Jilla Active, Silou London, Sports Philosophy, Starseeds, Rêve En Vert, Adrenna London, Natural Deodorant Co. and AmaElla.

Her sister Bonita is a stationery designer and marketing officer for a mental health charity.  

Together they share a mutual love of enjoying food in good company with purposeful conversation. Both believe that a shared dining experience encourages inclusion and a real sense of belonging. With a passion for seasonal vegetables, and vibrancy on the dinner plate, the menu will highlight UK seasonal produce for late spring.

Ceri Jones is a professional Natural Chef, cooking teacher and retreat chef. Away from the kitchen Ceri can be found writing and photographing her recipes to be shared on her award winning recipe blog and iphone App.

Yogis For Wildlife Fundraiser

At the heart of every conservationist and every yogi is one common denominator; compassion. We care deeply for this planet and the lives of the creatures that we share our space with. This workshop is an opportunity for conservationists to explore the world of yoga, and for yogis to learn more about the struggles our planet faces each day at the hand of humanity. It’s an opportunity for us all to stand together and make a difference. 

Margot Raggett, founder of Remembering Wildlife, will lead a talk on issues that elephants and rhino’s face in the wild and the great work they are doing in the fight against poaching. I will lead a one hour vinyasa yoga class, which is accessible to all levels. Afterwards there will be an informal Q&A and an opportunity to purchase the Remembering Rhinos and Remembering Elephants books – the first of The Remembering Wildlife series.

All proceeds go to Remembering Wildlife and the projects they support through the Born Free Foundation.

Enjoy a energising morning yoga session led by Lululemon ambassador and yoga teacher Katy Bateman. Katy's classes are creative, playful and dynamic, teaching with a wonderful infectious energy.

Post yoga guests will be treated to a well-deserved 3-course nourishing feast prepared by Henrietta Inman. As a trained pastry chef, Henrietta balances the flavour, quality and texture of classic patisserie with the natural goodness of simple wholefoods. She combines her core ingredients of wholegrain flours, less-refined sweeteners and good fats with what she calls her magic ingredients - those extra natural, wholesome ingredients which transform her recipes and make them shine. Her first best-selling book is called Clean Cakes and her next book, The Natural Baker, is out on 22nd March; she'll be recreating recipes from it for our brunch.

This will be an all levels vinyasa flow class. Beginners are welcomed and encouraged, and for the more advanced yogis there will always be options to deepen any pose.

Menus Making Change is a supper club with a conscience. This social initiative, brought together by Phoebe Crowder (owner of London based wholefoods company Cake + Cucumber), creates a space to start a conversation through fantastic food; to support and raise awareness of grass-roots projects. 

In an industry predominantly led by men MMC celebrates women in food, by flipping a stereotype on its head and putting women back in the kitchen. This collaborative event brings together London’s leading ladies: five delicious courses from the best supper clubs, street food and artisan producers in one special evening.  

Each supper club supports a different cause or grass roots project, in the understanding that direct, small-scale contribution can help support real change. All projects work for the empowerment of women and girls.

A Cause for Empowerment. 

The Wangu Kanja Foundation supports women in Nairobi, Kenya impacted by gender based violence. The Foundation’s work focuses on provision and access to medical, psychological, psycho-social, and legal redress. They empower survivors through helping them learn a skill or trade and thrive beyond past circumstance. The proceeds of this supper club will go to support the peanut-butter and basket weaving project.

She has since talked on panels for Frieze and Soho House about how to use Instagram in the art-world and on the subject of women artists.

Putting a Japanese twist on Shrove Tuesday; Fumio Tanga, will be serving up a menu of his famous, delicious okonomiyaki!

About Sho Foo Doh:

Sho Foo Doh is a name that Fumio Tanga inherited from his grandfather’s bakery back in Hiroshima. Original Sho Foo Doh has closed nearly 30 years ago but Fumio has resurrected it as an okonomiyaki stall at Chatsworth Road Market in 2011. Various pop up at venues across East London followed and he’s held a residency at Pacific Social Club for 5 years that ended in July 2017. After two sold out pop up events in Melbourne, Australia in 2017, Fumio is back in UK to cook the one and only authentic Hiroshima style okonomiyaki.

CHINESE NEW YEAR EVENT -

WORKSHOP + SUPPERCLUB

Learn the art of paper flower making and enjoy a three-course Chinese New Year dinner. Price includes all materials and a welcome drink.

Pom Pom Factory and Dumpling Heart present their first workshop + supper club event in London.

Join Karen Hsu from Pom Pom Factory and create beautiful, hand-crafted paper flowers during a fun and informative evening workshop. After an introduction to Pom Pom Factory, you will learn how to sculpt and personalise your own paper peony using different techniques. You’ll not only take home your artwork, but also plenty of new skills which you can use to make your own paper displays and gifts.

Paper peony workshop will be followed by Dumpling Hearts 3-course supper club. Dumpling Heart is brainchild of Taiwan born, London based fashion designer and avant-garde foodie, Mei-Hui Liu. Their signature dishes include beautiful Lace Dumplings, made from minced pork from local master butcher Hill & Szrok,or organic tofu from food artisans Clean Bean.

The doors will open at 6 pm with a welcome drink created by GoodMood Matcha, Paper Peony Workshop will start at 6.30 pm and food will serve at 8.45pm.
