Vinery London

We are back for another year of Vinery London, the only honesty wine bar in London! We will be hosting 3 of our events at a truly fantastic space which won us over as soon as we stepped in.

Please join us at one or all of our Vinery events at Benk + Bo which is centrally located between Aldgate underground and Liverpool St Station. It’s a space set over two floors with Scandinavian design features and lush foliage. A great and relaxed atmosphere to meet with old friends or make new ones.

At Vinery London the cost of this ticket gets you entry and a wine glass which you can top up as much as you like throughout the evening. We operate an honesty bar which means that before you leave, we ask that guests pay a donation according to the amount that was drunk and how much you thought the evening was worth. We accept cash and card donations on the door.

Salty Studio x Isabella Mitchell: Map Making Workshop

Salty Studio and Isabella Mitchell are collaborating to create... a map making workshop at Benk + Bo!

Mapmaking Workshop with Isabella Mitchell:

A mapmaking workshop which places focus on sensory storytelling and revels in the traces of fleeting yet fond holiday memories. To begin the workshop, you will be briefly introduced to the history of map design, with examples of characteristic features and artistic interpretations to inspire your own creation.

Through a series of hands-on, creative exercises, you will be encouraged to recall journeys and visualise destinations. You will learn how to translate your memories into a visual language, through cutting, collaging, mark-making, with the additional option of drawing if you wish.

You will leave the workshop with your own map, and a unique process which you can use to visually describe geographical locations, as shaped by your own personal experiences.

All materials are provided for this workshop, which is suitable for all abilities. Children over the age of 14 are welcome if accompanied by a parent. Books and visual references will be provided. Feel free to bring your own inspiring visuals such as photos or sketchbooks if desired.

Food (of course):

During the workshop, Maud from Salty Studio will present 5 different snacks inspired by remote islands around the world and tell a short story about where these come from and their history.

The following islands have been picked to inspire each snack! Here are a couple of ingredients you can expect to see...

+ Faroe Islands, Denmark: turnips, volcanic charcoal powder, fish & seaweed

+ Edinburgh of the seven seas, Tristan da Cuhna: potatoes multiple ways

+ Comoros Island: vanilla, plantains, seafood, coconut milk

+ Kerguelen Islands, French Southern & Antarctic Lands: crêpes, salted caramel sauce

+ Nunavut islands, Canada: all about berries

Salty Studio is founded by Maud de Rohan Willner, a French/British creative food & experience designer in London. Focusing on the senses, she aims to tell stories and create interactive experiences for her guests to remember. Combining food and design she wants to explore innovative ways to convey messages and transmit emotions, through textures, colours, flavours, aromas and more.

Isabella Mitchell is a freelance designer and illustrator based in London. Her practice centres around drawing places, people and objects from observation. She simplifies forms down to shape, colour and line, and explores relationships through composition, to create playful prints and digital illustrations. She designs and runs workshops to promote the mindful benefits of drawing and designing, within an environment which is easy to access, engage with and connect.

Joseph Futack / LISTEN HERE

Joseph Futak is 20 year old London based musician and artist mixing raw indie folk with ambient electronics and slowcore-inspired band arrangements – exploring an intricate relationship between experimental compositions and contemporary songs. After playing for several years in London bands, Joseph is now developing his solo project with the help of friends George Davies, Lucy Rushton and Lily Clifford, and is already building a reputation for striking and moving live performances.

HD Hausman / LISTEN HERE

HD Hausmann is the new project from Grass House’s vocalist and songwriter Liam Palmer, alongside bass guitarist Alex Oates. The duo’s music has been described “a lovely minimalist hymn” (Uncut), and more recently - in relation to the last single Recognise Faces (May 2019) - as a “tranquil wash of colours” (Songwriting Magazine).

Ailsa / LISTEN HERE

Intricate melodies that weave over brooding basslines, Ailsa Tully is creating an ethereal world that is rooted in folk with darker undertones. Inspired by choral music, folk and indie her sound is haunting, tender and powerful. Her lyrics are both honest and poetic, often exploring feminism and her experiences of being female in her writing. Ailsa has an all-female band which bring her song writing to life, from modal harmonies and driving rhythms to tender emotive melody lines. Ailsa has been featured on BBC radio Wales many times, toured Italy, performed at festivals and venues throughout the country, including Greenman and Ronnie Scotts. ‘I can’t tell you how excited I got when I heard this… inexplicable transcendental excellence’ – Adam Walton (BBC Introducing Wales)

Charity Mandala Vinyasa Yoga Class w/ Live Guitar

Come along for a Mandala Vinyasa Yoga Masterclass featuring live improv guitar at the gorgeous Benk + Bo, all in aid of charity!

Based on the 4 basic elements of the universe - Fire, Water, Air and Earth - Mandala Vinyasa is a strong and creative flow taking you 360 degrees around the mat. Each element connects to a certain part of the body and the physical practice aims at working deeper into each of these target groups of muscles.

Olivia Ball @oballyoga will be leading a WATER MANDALA Masterclass - focused on working deeper into the hips and groin in a flowing, spiralling movement around the mat. We work to lengthen and strengthen through the quads and inner thighs, helping to release through tight hip flexors.

The class will be accompanied by incredible live music from Michael Sebastian @bastiancrations, an improv musician and looping artist. Using guitar, beatbox and vocals, he draws on inspiration from his surroundings to layer sounds and ideas on the fly, creating a rich and vibrant sound. His music incorporates elements of modern electronic, world music and jazz in a groovy fusion of different styles.

100% of profits will also go to the Teenage Cancer Trust! This is an amazing charity providing life-changing care and support to young people in the UK with cancer so they don’t have to face it alone. See more here: https://www.teenagecancertrust.org/

The Future of Architecture in the Media - LFA2019

BowerBird brings together a panel of media specialists to examine the future of architectural media for the London Festival of Architecture.

Join BowerBird as we bring together an expert panel of media specialists to explore the future of architectural media.

The discussion will look at 2019 London Festival of Architecture theme, Boundaries, in tandem with technology; think augmented reality, social media, and drones, and what these mean for architects.

We'll also delve into the democratisation of architecture media; the process by which smaller practices can gain media attention, and start to tell their own stories.

Our panel:

Jonathan Bell - Editor at Large at Wallpaper*

Dominique Staindl - Account Manager at ING Media

Henry Woide - Architectural/Drone Photographer

Everyday Joy - Day Retreat

I have created the Everyday Joy retreat because I know you need a nourishing space. A nourishing space carefully designed for you to feel safe and held whilst you invest your energy in peeling back the amour created by your roles, titles and the characteristics you’ve embodied to get this far.  I am creating time and space for you to prioritise yourself.

This day retreat is holistic, I have curated workshops facilitated by highly skilled practitioners supporting you to mindfully move, go deeper and connect.  A total mind, body and spirit experience.

This is a truly judgment free and nourishing space where you are able to move through the discomfort of vulnerability into your centre and observe your three hundred and sixty degrees surrounded by empathy and compassion.  My intention is for you to begin to accept yourself fully from the parts we celebrate to the parts we try to overlook.  This gentle observation of your fullness is what I believe enables you to begin to sincerely meet your needs and transition from surviving to thriving.

You will be supported to develop tools assisting you to cultivate a grounding daily practice creating space to appreciate the Everyday Joys that tell us we are LIVING rather than EXISTING.  My intention is for you to leave with the practical knowledge necessary to integrate the ethos of the retreat with your daily life.

There are refreshments available throughout the day with a nutritious, seasonal plant-based lunch provided by The V Spot.

This is a sacred and powerful tantric breathwork journey into the deepest parts of ourselves. It is an invitation to worship your own divinity and feel the sexy, blissful aliveness present within you. It is a solo practice.

It is for anyone who is curious about awakening their inner erotic wisdom, directing their sexual energy and having a potentially transformational experience.

Your body will be flooded with life force energy during this deep breathing and energetic sublimation practice. It can result in big releases of pain, shame, numbness. And ecstatic feelings of laughter, pleasure, joy, surrender, love.

You could feel orgasmic or you could get triggered. Everything is welcome.

It is an individual healing practice but the journey is a shared one and we will bring in tribal dynamics and group connection to feel as safe and held as possible.

Self Space Groups | connection, community and everyday mental maintenance.

In a world in which feelings can sometimes be challenging, frightening, overwhelming, complex and seriously hard to navigate, it’s not surprising that sometimes we don't feel ok. Everyday mental maintenance is an essential part of surviving.

We invite participants to explore the impact of mental health on relationships, work and other areas of their lives in launching 'Self Space Groups' as part of our new Community strand.

Facilitated by qualified therapists, Self Space Groups support the maintenance of good mental health by offering participants an opportunity to pause, reflect, connect and share. Our warm, innovative and relaxed approach opens up a space that is safe and non-judgemental for participants to both join together, and work individually. Self Space Groups provide a space to meet in shared experience, and invite a deeper self-reflection that can support the development of necessary inner resources for positive mental wellbeing.

About Us:

Self Space provide flexible, forward thinking therapy which focuses on supporting people to maintain good mental health and ultimately reach their potential.

Our vision is to revolutionise the culture around accessing mental health support, making it more commonplace and aspirational. We want striving for mental wellness to feel like something people are proud of. We want to see people not only turning to therapy in a time of crisis, but instead, focusing on maintaining healthy mental wellbeing throughout their lives, in the same way most of us do with our physical health.

As well as offering groups and workshops, we offer one-one, couples and student therapy in our spaces in Shoreditch and Borough.

Three Sixty Conversations - Live

Three Sixty Conversations - Live

On 1st May 2019 Live Three Sixty turns 1 and I am celebrating with a live podcast event!  I will be answering questions posed by former podcast guests then delving deep in to conversation with Jessica Huie.

I could do the whole schpiel about Jessica being a teenage mum that went on to create an award winning career in PR, becoming a multi-entrepreneur with a brand that started early conversations about diversifying our high streets.  I could write paragraphs about Jessica being a highly sought after public speaker, ambassador for organisations with a social conscience and published author, ok I kind of have.  However these things are what she does, I will be having a conversation with Jessica about who she is and how all these elements have contributed to this.

Of course we will be discussing her book PURPOSE and what this means.  For many of us this book introduced us to Jessica the person at the centre of the accolades, roles and titles.  I will also be talking to Jessica about following the gentle nudges leading her to the hidden places within and how they are unfolding in her work and life.  The conversation will be wide ranging, open and insightful.

There will be light refreshments and great vibes.

Tickets for this event are limited.

There will be no goody bag, you will leave with the goods in your hearts and minds.  I will not be using my time to court PR’s for samples of stuff you don’t want or need!  #soznotsoz

Health & Healing Workshop w/ YogaLing

April: Focus: Yoga for balanced Menstruality & Muliebrity (Female Fertility)  - Or- strengthen Virility (men)

April's wonderful workshop will be third one run at the new home of Benk + Bo, where each month offers a different theme and focus.

April's Immersion will as usual take a Holistic and integrated approach.  And this month we'll be focusing on supporting Menstrual health and strengthen fertility for both women and men.   I have designed this compelling sequence combining my training in Therapeutic Womb Yoga and Massage and have offered these techniques to private clients in the last couple of years that have shown positive effects, when also combined with positive living, reducing/eliminating stress, healthy eating and TCM/Acupuncture.

In this Health & Well-Being workshop, you’ll be guided through gentle Somatic movements and simple massage techniques to stimulate circulation for improved well-being. Then you’ll safely stretched through a short sequence of poses -  held longer to release deep connective tissue that’s known as Yin yoga. Last but not least, you’ll be guided through a deeply relaxing yet rejuvenating Restorative yoga sequence that supports fertility health, rejuvenation for organs and calming for the nervous system and stillness for the busy mind.

"I just wanted to tell you how grateful I am for your recent classes on psoas asanas.

I have been diagnosed with polycystic ovaries and fertility issues.

Thanks to your class, I managed to have my first normal cycle - pain free!!

~ Student, Frances C.

Regardless as to whether or not you are suffering or are free from fertility and/menstruality / virility issues - you will still benefit from this workshop immersion as Stress and modern busy living is a major and the single biggest contributing factor causing conception concerns, menstruation imbalances as well as other health related issues.

No yoga experience necessary.

DIVE INTO THE DEEP
Apr

7:00 PM19:00

DIVE INTO THE DEEP

Im so delighted to be hosting another workshop at the beautiful Benk + Bo!

In this workshop we will be exploring the creativity and intimacy in poses and breath. Experiencing the beautiful balance of Yin and Yang in the practice through working with Yoga poses in full freedom will allow you to deepen your understanding and experience in more than just poses. The workshop will teach you how to unleash your creativity in body and mind, working with Pranayama (breath work), Meditation, Vinyasa and of course finishing in Yin Yoga.

The big focus will be on the Manipura (solar plexus) Chackra, as that is the area where we hold our creativity. The feelings of love and happiness we feel in our heart actually originate in the Manipura Chakra and rise from there to the Anahata Chakra (heart centre).

Self-awareness and self-confidence are other pearls of the Manipura Chakra. Until we discover these pearls within us and raise them into the light we live in constant fear – fear that we will not be loved, that we will be a failure, fear of becoming ill, etc. An imbalance or blockage in the Manipura Chakra destroys our energy and triggers diverse physical and psychic problems. If we are unable to think clearly, to express our thoughts and feelings, or if our mind is foggy there is often a disturbance in the Manipura Chakra. So through creative movement and breath work we will be working on realising that imbalance! We will also be learning about the exciting subject of Prananic Energy, and how to incoroprate that knowledge to balance your centre!

This is an open level workshop. It's for you who are ready to experience the bigger spectrum of yoga, more than the poses on the mat. It's for you who are curious and are open to do the deeper work.

This is another subject I hold close to my heart and I cant wait to share it with you. If you have any questions prior the event, please let me know!

Hope you see you there!

X
