THE WASTED SUPPER

On 19th December Dinner Ladies brings you THE WASTED SUPPER, an opportunity to be part of a completely sustainable evening celebrating food & fashion. The concept is to swap for your supper at our charity supper club by bringing items from your larder or fridge you would like to clear out before the holidays. Dinner Ladies culinary collective will then put their creative skills to the test by bringing these ingredients to life and creating a meal for you to enjoy together.

Partnering with Supplycompass, a responsible platform connecting brands with the best manufacturers we are throwing in a clothes swap too. Bring along any unwanted garms and exchange for something fresh, one person’s trash is another persons treasure!

Our hosts for the evening are Benk & Bo, a creative space in the heart of East London.

Come and join us for an evening of fun, food, fashion and sustainable cocktails and show your support for the war on waste, all for the price of something pre-loved. Any leftover food and clothing will be donated to the Streets Kitchen.

A totally vegetarian evening!

A RECIPE FOR SELF LOVE W/ KEELEY DANN

A RECIPE FOR SELF LOVE W/ KEELEY DANN

What would it look like to start 2019 totally feeling yourself?

To show up to the world with..

  • The inner confidence to be yourself

  • The self-trust to be everything you already are without worrying what others think

  • The knowing you are worthy, wonderful and more than anything loveable

  • To feel sexy, sassy and in love with your body

Well lovely lady what better way to start the New Year, than with a commitment to start loving yourself!

Does this sound like you...

You often put yourself down, struggle with negative self talk, dislike things about yourself/your body, find it hard to receive a compliment, or are always trying to please others and worry about what people might think of you...Oh and rarely prioritise yourself?

Well, I've been there, done that and got the T-shirt. I spent many years self loathing and trying to desperately fit in and be liked, after years of being bullied. I know what it feels like to dislike yourself and feel like you are not good enough, to question whether it's you in your relationship, to say yes when you want to say no to fit in, to feel inadequate and to ultimately not have a sense of self worth. I bullied myself for many years and let my negative self talk and sabotaging behaviour hinder my life, work and relationships. I finally realised that if I wanted to have a loving relationship and if I wanted people to respect and value me, I had to first do this to myself. I decided to ditch the self loathing and start some self loving and guess what, I changed my life and relationship in the process.

'The most important relationship we will ever have is the one we have with ourselves'

In order to have healthy loving relationships with others we must first have this with ourselves. It is up to you to love yourself, because you set the bar for how others will show up towards you. But how do you do this I hear you ask....Well this is what my Recipe for Self-Love Workshop Brunch will teach you; Just how to start loving and nurturing yourself, so you can show up to the world as the wonderful, worthy woman you are, totally believing it. The key to living your best life lady, really is through loving yourself first.

This Workshop Brunch will give you the exact tools you need to head into 2019 doing more loving and less loathing and feeling more confident within.

It's time to ditch that inner critic and start showing up as the Worthy Woman you are!

THE EVENT

This is going to be a day of female empowerment at its finest. We will begin with a Coaching Workshop/Talk, where I will open up about my own experience and give you the exact ingredients I use myself and with my clients, to help them move past those feelings of 'not enough', into feeling more confident and connected to themselves. After this 75 minute Coaching Workshop, we will then move, love and appreciate our bodies as we Dance to the sassy tunes of the worlds biggest diva Beyonce. My Sassy, Sexy style will teach you how to move your body in an empowering way, making you feel like Queen Bey herself. This will be a heels Workshop, (because we feel so much sexier when we have a fabulous shoe on our feet) but don't worry of you've never danced in heels before because I will break down the moves in a simplistic way, so you grasp them, have fun and feel FABULOUS!

Once we've finished both workshops, we'll then head downstairs to have a lovely, delicious, lunch altogether, so we can chat and make new friendships. There is something so powerful when a group of likeminded women come together and it's my fave thing, chatting and connecting with you personally. This is your chance to feel inspired, motivated and empowered by each other as well as the opportunity to build new friendships. To top it off you'll also receive a fabulous Self-Love Goodie Bag to take home with you, to remember the day.

THE TRANSFORMATION!

This event will help you to become aware of those negative patterns that are holding you back from being your amazing self and to give you the tools needed to take on 2019 with more confidence, positivity and self trust.

I will help you let go of the limiting mindset that's holding you back, the sabotaging patterns, negative self talk and self doubt that is crippling you. If you're ready to step in to your power, to value yourself and own your worth then I can't wait to see you there

You are a Wonderful, Worthy Woman and in 2019 it's time to start believing it

This is for you if:

  • You are ready to start shining your light and owning who you are

  • You want to let go of the sabotaging mindset holding you back, telling you you're not good enough.

  • You want to learn the tools needed to help you truly love yourself and feel more confident within

  • Want to learn how to cultivate a healthy loving relationship with yourself, so you can do the same with others

  • Love to dance and are ready to let go and let out your inner alter ego

  • Want to love your body and the skin you're in

  • Want to connect with other incredible women, build relationships and have a whole heap of fun.

At the Event You will learn;

  • What 'Self-Love' really is

  • My key ingredients needed to love yourself

  • How to transform your relationship with yourself, so you feel more confident and empowered within

  • Practical tools and tips to start implementing Self Love

  • To dance like you are Queen Bey and feel sexy and sassy within

Save The Children Music Event

Christmas Jumper Jam is bookable as an Airbnb Concert hosted on the Airbnb platform. The gig will be hosted as a Social Impact Experience meaning that Airbnb will waive their service fee and 100% of the proceeds from the ticket sales will go directly to Save the Children to give children here in the UK and across the world hope for a better future.

Tom will be helping to make the world better with a sweater by acoustically performing a select few tracks from his ‘Lighting Matches’ album, all whilst wearing his favourite winter woolly. He will be supported my music artists Elli Ingram and Grace Ackerman.

Guests are strongly encouraged to join Tom on the evening and wear their most novel knits. If you don’t already own a winter woolly, Save the Children will be hosting a pop-up Mary’s Living & Giving Christmas Jumper Day store on the night, which will stock a wide range of festive sweaters.

You can also pick up a jumper ahead of the gig from The Amazon Fashion UK Christmas Jumper Store. For every eligible Christmas Jumper purchased from the Christmas Jumper Store on amazon.co.uk and smile.amazon.co.uk, Amazon will donate 20% to Save the Children.

Save the Children and Selfish Mother have also joined forces again for the third year in a row, with a new series of slogan sweatshirts. The range of unisex, organic cotton sweatshirts come in black or red with festive gold slogans: PEACE, LOVE, HOPE AND JOY. They will be priced at £55 with a 50% donation to Save the Children and exclusively available to pre-order from Selfish Mother’s online shop, ‘The FMLY Store’ from 1st November.

This year, Save the Children’s annual Christmas Jumper Day is taking place on Friday 14th December. Flashing, festive knits will be sweeping the nation once again as schools, homes and offices across the country will be ditching their day-to-day dress and donning their daftest, most wonderful woollies for the annual fundraiser.

From knits festooned in jingling bells to jumpers covered in lights, shiny neon tinsel and technicoloured baubles, Save the Children is expecting over 5 million people across the UK to take part in the biggest, silliest Christmas Jumper Day ever. Whether it’s with Christmassy colleagues, sparkly school friends or just you and your merry mates, by sticking on a fabulously festive knit, signing up and donating £2 to Save the Children (£1 if you’re at school) at christmasjumperday.org, you will be helping give children hope for a better future.

transparency in fashion from fibre to fashion // private event

The new sustainable British textile producers, Bysshe Partnership and
Doppelhaus Ltd, have teamed up with Eliza Collin and a range of other
emerging fashion design talents in order to demonstrate the ideal
fashion supply chain. The group have developed a collection of diverse
garments that prove that the potential for sustainable fashion is only
limited by the creativity of the designer.

The collection will be exhibited at an exhibition at Stour Space in
Hackney from 25 February - 3 March 2019, entitled 'Transparency in
Fashion: From Fibre to Garment’. In order to generate momentum for the
upcoming event, the organizers have produced a lookbook, together with
acclaimed photographer Pascal Emmeran: the images are included as
thumbnails in the press pack attached, and can be published on request
(exclusivity negotiable). There will also be a crowdfunding campaign

Embracing The Balance

Join us for a night workshop balancing our Yin and Yang energies with Yoga Asana and Sound Healing at the beautifull Benk + Bo. In this workshop we will explore and combind soft dynamic movements with warm and deep tissue relising practice. Along with focusing on Vinyasa and Yin Yoga, we will dive deeper into working with the sences through exploring the profound and powerful experience of healing sound and vibration.

Sound Healing is all about vibration, resonance and intention. Sound is vibration, and vibration touches every cell in our body. Therefore we not only hear sound, we feel it physically, emotionally and soulfully. Vibrations influence our emotional bodies as well as our physical bodies, sound and emotions are connected, and our emotional wellbeing influences our physical wellbeing. It connect us back in with our loving selves through the heart centre, to take us out of the realm of the mind and drop down into the heart.

This event will be taking place on the last New Moon of the year. New Moon is about setting intentions, manifesting and new beginnings. This workshop will allow you to ground yourself and head towards the end of the year in the most grounded, present and softest way possible.

This is a donation based event where no money is being taken by the venue or the teachers. All money from this workshop is going to the charity Centre Point that helps to support homeless youth in London and UK.

Streetsmart Supperclub

No one should have to spend Christmas alone and no one should have to spend Christmas on the street.

Coming together for the first time Eyal Jaggerman, Billy & Jack and Alexandra Dudley cook up a three course feast to celebrate and raise awareness for the brilliant work of StreetSmart - a charity that raises money for the vulnerable and homeless during the month of Christmas and December.

Join us for an evening of middle eastern inspired food, classic cocktails and festive fun.

Tickets include three courses each cooked by our fantastic chefs, welcome cocktails and a goodie bag.

Meet the team!

StreetSmart work with restaurants across the UK to raise money for vulnerable and homeless members of their local community during the months of November and December. Through the simple idea of adding a voluntary £1 to diners’ bills during the festive months, the charity has raised over £8.8 million since its foundation for charities, hostels and projects that help those living on the streets and in unsuitable accommodation. All donations are distributed to local charities and initiatives, targeting areas such as food redistribution and prevention of youth homelessness. Every penny of every £1 stays local to where it’s raised.

Eyal Jaggerman is a Tel Aviv born chef and restauranteur, trained in Israel and moved to London in 2014 to study Culinary Management and Le Cordon Bleu. After finishing his studies he worked and trained at some of London's best restaurants. in 2016 he co-founded and was the head chef of the Barbary, A Covent Garden restaurant that celebrates the flavours, colours and culture of modern Israeli cuisine. The Barbary was awarded Londons' best restaurant of 2017 by Time Out Magazine.

Billy and Jack met on BBC One’s MasterChef in 2016. The runners up charmed viewers across the nation with their playful, quirky takes on classic British dishes, including English Breakfast, Ham, Egg and Chips and Shepherd’s Pie. When the show came to an end, instead of hanging up their aprons, they teamed up as a duo. United by their love of cooking and eating tasty food and their passion for creating memorable experiences, for the past two years the duo has spent time crafting their style, cooking in unusual places and bringing people together to enjoy their imaginative dishes.

Alexandra Dudley is an artist, cook and writer. Her debut cookbook Land & Sea was released summer 2017 and celebrates simple, sustainable, seasonal food with a nod to entertaining at home. She is a serial dinner party host and as well as throwing regular supper clubs at her home in East London runs 'How to host a dinner party' at the likes of Soho House and abroad.

Life Drawing + Gong Bath Class

Life Drawing + Gong Bath Class

Join us for a Life Drawing Class with Gong Bath to get your creativity flowing.

This class is for all levels whether you're already deep into a drawing practice or have never drawn before. The point is to feel free to express and explore that expression and experimentation, through presence. You may want to draw the whole class or you may want to lay down and close your eyes...the idea is to do what you want to do. There are no rules and no expectations.

I will be there to help and guide people if they need it and Siri Atma Anselmi will provide a Gong Bath backdrop to energise our cells into being.

What is a Gong Bath?

The Gong is a sacred and ancient instrument of healing, rejuvenation and transformation.... The gong also works deeply on the mental, emotional and spiritual bodies to purify and quieten the mind.

Our normal waking consciousness corresponds to the Beta state, which is our brain emitting waves between 13-30Hertz.

The feeling of relaxation and concentration is linked to the Alpha state, which sends waves between 8-13Hertz.

Then we can go into Theta state (5-7Hertz), associated with Rapid Eye Movement and release of muscular spasms and energetic blockages.

Last but not least, Delta state (0.5-4Hertz), emitting extremely low vibrations associated with deep sleep and other unconscious states.

So for the combination of a Life Drawing class - being in an observatory state, looking silently as an active meditation and drawing what we see whilst being enveloped in a state of tranquility. The Gong will send signals that are interpreted at biological, energetic and emotional levels, directing the cells to develop in a homeostatic state whilst stabilizing our energies.

Its a time for us to be fully present, embrace experimentation and enjoy the creativity we all have in ourselves.

All materials will be provided and there will be time at the end for chilling with each other/talking/leaving, whatever you feel.

The Life in Still Life
Dec

The Life in Still Life

The Life in Still Life drawing workshops is a series a little different to the usual 'life drawing' set up - they are a mix between still life and life drawing. Attendees are presented with a still life composition of plants, fruits, ornaments and beautiful fabric textures, but the key difference is the presence of a model, posed with the elements of still life and therefore, a part of it.

Expect soulful music, refreshments, charming ornaments, a variety of plants/textures, and diverse life drawing models (either clothed or nude), to create a chilled environment where everything you draw is beautiful.

The Life in Still Life drawing sessions aims to:
- Encourage people to create drawings that collate the exploratory nature of still life with the humanistic focus of life drawing, allowing for a space to draw your own masterpieces 'providing invaluable insight into how we live and what we value most’
- Provide a calming space for people to gather and get creative, without any pressure or expectations
- Encourage the use of art as self-care, mostly by celebrating the chance to reflect and create something you can be proud of (no matter what your skill level is)

Winter Reset: A Yoga + Life Drawing Workshop

Give yourself a full Reset before the winter festivities are in full swing.

This workshop is all about finding stillness and cultivating a sense of calm amongst the hustle and bustle of London life at Christmas time.

Stop for a moment, breath deeply, move your body in a way that releases any pent up stiffness and immerse yourself in a mindful life drawing practice that keeps your mind engaged and focused on the present.

You can be sure it will be an invaluable experience that will help keep away any stress and anxiety that this busy season may bring.

WHY YOGA + ART?

There are many parallels between yoga + life drawing. They both help us feel fully present. We end up losing ourselves in the act of doing and being. They both help us explore and discover things about ourselves that we may have not known and we can feel very humbled by the process.

“Ravioli?? Tortelli? Isn’t the same thing? What’s the difference? Shape? Filling?”

I have heard those questions so many times…It can be confusing and that is why I decided to do a 3 hrs focus class on STUFFED PASTA: RAVIOLI VS TORTELLI.

There are so many varieties out there that even the Italians get lost in the jungle of regional specialities like pansotti, cappellacci, agnolotti, tortellini, casunzei etc.etc.

In this 3hrs hands-on class you will learn:

  • to distinguish tortelli from ravioli

  • shapes and names of some (there are hundreds!) regional stuffed pasta

  • to make the pasta dough from scratch

  • to roll the dough with a pasta machine

  • to fold and shape the pasta in 3 and more ways

  • to make a traditional filling

  • to balance flavours and seasoning

During the class you will:

  • make ravioli and tortelli to bring at home

  • cook and taste your creations

  • receive a booklet with the recipes of the class and more sauces to go with them

  • spend a great night sharing food and laughter with other people

Black Girls Brunch by Cairo Mcfarlane

'Whenever you find yourself in a room where there aren't a lot of people who look like you...remember you have an entire community in that room with you. All of us encouraging you and cheering you on' - Senator Kamala Harris.

So often we, as Black Women are the only ones in a room full of people who don't look like us. I created this event to remind Black Women that they are not alone, that there are likeminded women who deal with challenges and the same issues that they too face. This event is not only about socialising but networking. A key statement we’re told is, “it’s not what you know but who you know.” If we can create and event for women to network and connect with others in different fields and thus create professional and personal relationships, it can aid in the empowerment and growth of Black Women as a collective.

Often I discuss topics prevalent within our community as a Black Woman on a personal level. However, I am interested in opening that discussion to a wider setting and creating a safe place to learn and share ideas. Thus during the event we will aim to discuss some key topics put forward by the attendees.

Please join us to connect with other Black Women in a fun and sociable environment.

Chakra Balancing Day Retreat

I am so excited to be bringing you this glorious day retreat where we will be nurturing our whole bodies with yoga, food and sound.

The Chakra system are wheels of energy that run down the centre of the body. Each wheel correlates to a particular part of the body and spins allowing energy to flow freely through the entire body. However, tiredness, stress and worry can create blocks in the chakra wheels and so then energy can become blocked and stagnant, leaving us feeling flat and low in energy.

This retreat is going to help you realise if you have any blocks in the chakras and, if you do, how we can help to unlock this energy and create a more balanced body.

I always find that November is a very challenging but enjoyable time, before the christmas rush, the mad shopping and all the fun parties begin!
Treat yourself to this very special healing and nurturing day.

I promise you will leave feeling relaxed and vitalised.
